Beggar in the Morning- The Barr Brothers

Sounds Like: Folk-y goodness.
Where to listen: Like every good folk song, it is best listened to outside. This one is particularly good in the morning to wake up to.

A great early morning song for a slow day. The long opening draws you from sleep and continues to build until you are wide awake and feeling good (or maybe just a little melancholy). Guitar creeps in at 1.11 followed by some haunting Leonard Cohen-esque lyrics. The thing I really like about The Barr Brothers besides the fact that they are Canadian (gotta support my countrymen) is that despite this being their first album, they have already established that they aren't a one-trick pony. Check out this other song from their self-titled album:

Sounds Like: Back when the Black Keys blew our minds.
Yeah. That is the same band. This, my friends, is what talent sounds like. If this isn't what a band should be today, I don't know what is.

Check out The Barr Brothers.

Can you dig it?
