When to Listen: Summertime!

I don't know what to term this genre. I'm going to call it Hipster Surf Pop  (©Brittany Precious, June 25, 2012). I like that the 1960's California surf rock sound has re-emerged because now I get to pretend I'm super hip and host a modern swinging 60's shindig/ California pool party and not seem like I'm grasping for the old days with outdated music. Hipsters, you finally did something right. Dig those dreamy vocals and that oh-so-retro surf riff and let Real Estate take you back to a time when beach parties were encouraged, not punished. It was real, I swear.
