Working Poor- Horse Feathers

Sounds Like: If Sam Beam had an orchestral back-up band.
Where to Listen: Outside! In a beautiful meadow maybe.

In honour of the first day of summer, here is a lovely, sunny day track. This also goes out to everyone who is working on this sunny, first day of summer. I'm a sucker for a banjo and for me, nothing says "sunny day" like a banjo. I really like Horse Feathers. In fact, they rank amongst my top-rated concerts (believe me, that is saying something). I saw them in a really small venue in Vancouver and after the opening act (which was also fairly soft folk) everyone sat on the floor. When they came on stage I remember the lead singer saying,"Don't stand up!" because it was such an intimate environment; perfect for Horse Feathers! This song in particular is my absolute favourite by them. But I am being a bit selfish- Belly of June song would've a more suitable recommendation for today (so here it is as a bonus):

For more Horse Feathers, check out House With No Name and Thistled Spring. And if you're really digging it, Words Are Dead is also great.

Here's to summer!
