Sounds Like: Lead singer sounds a little like Tom Petty. Agree?
A couple of weeks ago, I posted a Buddy Holly cover by Paul McCartney. The same company that was responsible for that album of Buddy Holly covers is now releasing a tribute to Fleetwood Mac (nice choice!!). The first single to be released from this album is this cover by The New Pornographers. Definitely a really nice cover- honours the original but has the distinct sounds of TNP. As for the rest of the album, I've only heard about half. There is a great cover of Gold Dust Woman by Karen Elson and a not-so-great cover of Future Games by MGMT. I was really looking forward to Best Coast's version of Rhiannon but was sadly let down. Silver Springs for Lykki Li was a great choice and I can't wait to hear Dreams, Gypsy, Tusk and Marianne Faithful cover Angel. I like that they chose to cover some lesser known songs in addition to a few hits. God knows it would be dangerous to touch Edge of Seventeen or Go Your Own Way- you can't improve upon perfection.
